Projects

A few of our projects are illustrated below.

Probably the simplest project to  make but not the simplest solution to think of this device is a good  example of how determining the correct solution is often far more  difficult than making it.
The client was a lady who had had a stroke and lost the use of one arm.
The problem was that to hang washing on a line requires two arms. One  hand holds the washing in place while the other hand is used to put the  clothes peg on.
Using only one arm the clothing often falls to the ground as you let go to get the peg.

The solution was two glue two clothes pegs together.

You can now attach one peg to the  clothes in the basket, bring them up to the line and use the other to  attach to the line. The two designs (front to front and back to front)  were used because some clothes worked better with one orientation,  others with the other.

Simples as the Meerkats would say - once you had thought about it!

getting wheelchair into car boot

This wheelchair lifting aid is rugged, lightweight and does not require any fitting to the car.

A commercial wheelbarrow  adapted for a user with limited mobility

Sometimes very simple things offer a considerable improvement.  In this case a normal door lock was adapted to allow a user with arthritis to use it more easily.

A wheeled,  extended and height adjustable reading stand

A security system for a wheelchair to allow it to be locked in place after the user has got into their car to make sure it will still be in the right position when they return.

Ramps and walkways are quite common jobs.  This one bridged a gap between the back door of the house and the garden path

This transfer board clips to the car door frame and allows the client to move from the car seat to their wheelchair

An aid to assist an elderly lady open and close her new window which was behind the sink and  impossible for her to reach.
