As charities go REMAP is remarkably efficient. For each £1 we receive we produce solutions to the value of £20. This is achieved simply because of the enormous depth of knowledge and skill of our panel members. In South Herts alone we have well over two centuries of engineering knowledge and experience to call upon.
How can you help us?
Obviously, you can give us money - for which we are always grateful, but our strength is not in our ability to raise money. In many ways we are a rather old fashioned charity. We have no professional fund raisers, our administrators are all amateurs and we rely upon altruism rather than garish publicity. We will always willingly accept donations. However, more than your money - we want you.
- We want you to tell us of people who could benefit from our help.
- We want you to help us.
We have covered some of the ways you can get in touch to tell us of those who would benefit from our help here
There are a number of ways you can do the second part and help us, and more importantly our clients.
Firstly, please join us. We welcome people who can solve problems. Formal qualifications are not required, if you can think innovatively and have practical skills we can use you. We want solution finders, people willing to listen to our clients and solve their problems. We need people with practical skills - people who can make things work. If you are good at solving practical problems, understand people and want to help please get in touch with us. The range of ages involved in REMAP South Herts varies from people in their early forties to those well past their eighties, there are no limit. Whether you are eighteen, fifty or ninety, if you know enough to help us we want you.
We particularly need people with PIC, control and electronics knowledge because these are areas we are weak in. No one is too young or too old to help. Click here for more details about joining our organisation.
Industrial & Commercial Assistance
Secondly, you may not have the time to take part but you might control specialised facilities that could be of use such as stainless steel fabrication, powder coating, workshop facilities etc. If you run a training workshop or similar facility our projects might sometimes provide an interesting challenge for some of your students. If you think you could help us, even if only very occasionally, again please get in touch.
Thirdly, we are always after materials, the contents of scrap metal bins and skips is often of great value to us. We are interested to hear from industrial and commercial organisations willing to offer us surplus materials. In particular, off cuts from mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, hardwoods and rigid plastics in tube or sheet form are regular requirements. What is scrap to you can be freedom to someone else.
Whatever your line of business, if you have anything you think we could use then before throwing things away - please contact us.
Finally, we always need storage space - if you are in our area and have some space to spare please let us know.
